Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr asserted that Egyptian-French relations are "strong" at the various political and economic levels that could establish bases for opening up horizons of development in all fields.
The minister's remarks were made during her meeting with French Ambassador in Cairo Andre Baran as the two sides discussed fields of joint cooperation and future projects that represent top priority for the Egyptian government and people in the current phase. The two sides agreed on signing the executive agreement pertaining to the establishment of a regional control center in the Delta region funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and another agreement on a wind power station in the Gulf of Suez. The agreements come ahead of a visit by AFD Middle East and North Africa Marie-Helene Loison to attend a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of establishing AFD. The minister lauded the role played by AFD in enhancing cooperation between the two countries since AFD set up its office in Cairo 2007. AFD has so far funded important projects in Egypt with total investments of 889 million euros. France has carried out several projects in Egypt including Cairo underground project, Qasr el Aini Hospital, Bibliotheca Alexandrina data system as well as sanitation and water projects. |
