Prime Minister Sherif Ismail chaired a meeting by the board of the Long Live Egypt "Tahya Misr Fund" on several projects financed by the fund in various govern orates.
The ministers of local development, health, justice, finance, irrigation, investment, and supply, along with the Cairo governor took part in the meeting. During the meeting, the Premier gave directives to intensify efforts to develop slums and unplanned districts nationwide, raise the efficiency of services provided to those areas, and transfer residents of impending danger areas as soon as possible. Cabinet spokesman Ashraf Sultan said the meeting reviewed steps taken regarding Asmarat 1 and 2 projects that were totally completed, and the executive situation of the Asmarat 3 ongoing project. Asmarat 3 gathers 124 buildings, including 7,440 housing units, as well as service and entertainment buildings. The project aims at establishing a new city to be home for residents of the danger slums in Manshiet Nasser. The meeting also reviewed the executive situation of the ongoing development project of Shubra's El Assal district that is currently being implemented on three phases with a total cost of EGP 61.5 million. Two phases out of the three planned stages were completely finalized. Also, two integrative hospitals in Kafr el Shiekh and Minya were agreed to be allocated for establishing Hepatitis C treatment centers. A report was reviewed on development projects in 10 of the most needy villages in the Upper Egypt governorates of Qena, Assiut and Sohag. The meeting also reviewed projects currently being implemented in the Nubia region in the sectors of housing, electricity, drinking water, sanitation, roads, health, and civil protection, scheduled to be completed on June 30, 2018. The Prime Minister issued directives to launch development projects in Nubia to provide real job opportunities for the locals, particularly young people. Meanwhile, Ismail demanded a comprehensive report to be presented on measures taken regarding development projects of drainage and irrigation networks in Alexandriaand Beheira at a total cost of EGP one billion, including compensations allocated for farmers for the damage that hit their fields following last winter's floods. |
