country Director of the World Bank for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti Asaad Alam said that Egypt has an ambitious program to involve young people in the decision-making process.
The remark was made in his speech at the youth and employment in the Middle East and North Africa conference.. Alam stressed that young people are the basis for growth and development in the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East.. He called for creating programs that make the best use of young people's enthusiasm and energy to achieve the objectives of sustainable development He pointed out that there are three main pillars for youth employment, which countries of the region should pay attention to.. The first is providing jobs, which is the main concern of young people, especially for university students, he said.. He explained that such task is no longer confined to governments, as it is necessary to involve the private sector in the job-finding process.. The second pillar is the need to provide young people with the skills needed for the labor market, which requires cooperation between the public and private sectors to qualify them to meet market needs, he added.. Alam explained that the third pillar is to encourage young people to participate in the decision-making process. |
