A British trade delegation is set to visit Egypt this month to explore increasing investments in different sectors, British ambassador to Egypt John Casson said in a press statement on Sunday, state-run news agency MENA reported.
The delegation will be headed by the UK’s trade envoy to Egypt Jeffrey Donaldson MP, and will include a number of officials from British companies. The delegation will take place between 23 and 27 September. It will focus on the infrastructure in the Suez Canal zone, the new administrative capital, Alamein city, and Cairo. Casson also said that the delegation includes companies that will invest for the first time in Egypt. In August, UK minister for the Middle East Alastair Burt visited Cairo to discuss with Egyptian officials British-Egyptian cooperation and UK support for Egypt, especially in economic and educational reform. The UK is the number one investor in Egypt, with investments in the first half of 2016/17 reaching $2.9 billion, according to an earlier statement by the British embassy in Cairo. |
