The UAE Trade Mission to Belarus has stressed the importance of promoting co-operation between the UAE and Belarus in economic and trade sectors.

The mission's visit to Belarus from 24th to 28th September had important economic outcomes.

Several successful meetings were held during the visit, including a meeting between Ahmed Mohammed Al Tenaiji, Ambassador of the UAE to Belarus, and Kurshik Dimitri Aleksandrovich, Deputy Minister of Industry of Belarus, which was held in the presence of the members of the UAE Trade Mission.

The meeting paved the way for strategic economic partnerships between the two countries and highlighted promising mutual investment opportunities.

Al Tenaiji underlined the keenness of the UAE government to promote trade and investment ties with Belarus, within the framework of the efforts to improve economic co-operation between the UAE and the Eurasian Economic Union countries, which represent a large market of goods and services, including Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

These markets have a consumer base exceeding 182.7 million people and represent an important launch point for Emirati foreign trade.

Al Tenaiji expressed the hope that the UAE Trade Mission would achieve favourable results to improve economic and investment co-operation between both the countries, ensure economic partnerships between businessmen, as well as exchange ideas and opportunities. He noted that the participation of Belarus in Expo 2020 would be exceptional for the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Aleksandrovich emphasised the keenness of his country to promote bilateral relations with the UAE and open new avenues for economic co-operation that would serve the interests of both the parties.

He underscored the role of the UAE as a vital country in the Middle East, and an important trade and marketing centre linking the various markets in the region.

The UAE Trade Mission delegation said that they had discussed with their Belarusian counterparts the possibilities of establishing economic partnerships, whether through the implementation of mutual investment projects or through contracts and commercial proxy agreements.

It pointed out that the government and businessmen in Belarus had assured the visit great attention, and the UAE businessmen had held meetings with their Belarusian counterparts to discuss various investment opportunities.

The Trade Mission delegation visit was organised within the framework of the policy of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as part of its 2017 plan that includes sending and receiving specialised trade delegations to achieve the maximum benefit for the participating members and bring investments to the country, as well as establish trade partnerships with economically developed countries
