Tunisia’s annual inflation rate rose to 5.8 percent in October from 5.5 percent in September, the highest rate since the 5.7 percent recorded in April 2015, official data showed.

The food and drink price index rose 7.2 percent in October from a year earlier.

Clothing and footwear prices rose by 7.9 percent, the state statistics office said.

The central bank raised its key interest rate from 4.75 percent to 5.00 percent in May, the second hike in a month, in a bid to ease inflationary pressures.
