A World Bank-sponsored major project aiming to predict the change in the groundwater volume in Egypt and Africa has been completed, head of geographical information department of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (NARSS) Safaa Mohamed Hassan told MENA .
NARSS, the Agriculture Ministry, the Irrigation Ministry, and the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics have taken part in the project, Hassan said. Also, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) participated in the project, she added. The project covered the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer, NARSS official said. Egypt enjoys abundance of underground water in the north and the center of the Western Desert in Egypt, while it is scarce in the south, the study revealed. |
