Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has since its establishment provided financial and technical assistance to countries around the world to help them with their development projects.
KFAED continued this role throughout 2017, and following are major financial contributions to development projects: January 11: KFAED offered Grenada Kuwaiti Dinar (KD) four million loan for financing road-building project. January 17: KFAED extended KD eight million loan to Georgia for the financing of Batumi -Akhaltsikhe roads. January 23: KFAED allocated USD 10 million for Syrian refugees in Iraq's Kurdistan in collaboration with UNHCR. January 29: KFAED has inked a grant agreement worth USD 14.1 million with the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation for bankrolling the operations of Jordan's Cities and Villages Development Bank (CVDB). January 29: KFAED signed deal to allot USD two million for building and equipping "Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Complex" at Al-Quds University in Palestine. March 16: The Egyptian Government and KFAED signed loan accord, worth KD 18. 5 million, and inked a grant worth KD 100,000 to fund a project for organic and biodynamic agriculture in North Sinai. March 21: KFAED signed a USD 15 million-worth loan agreement with Tanzania to finance Nyahua-Chaya Road Project in the country. March 21: KFAED signed with Turkey three agreements worth USD 15 million to contribute to the response plan of Syrian refugees living in the Turkey, on fringes of the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Ankara. March 22: KFAED and Sierra Leone have signed a loan agreement worth KD five million to finance overhauling a road linking the capital to all provinces. May 22: KFAED donated USD two million for Al-Hussain Cancer Foundation to contribute to treatment of Syrian cancer patients. May 23: The fund signed an agreement to amend a donation deal with Mongolia to fund a national center for burns and fractures with USD eight million. May 23: KFAED signed a USD 24 million loan agreement with Tunisian Ministry of Development, Investment and International cooperation to build four hospitals in Tunisia. May 23: The fund lend Guinea KD 8.6 million to finance renovation of a highway. July 13: KFAED lend Maldives USD 10 million to finance a marine project. July 25: The fund signed a loan agreement with Morocco to provide USD 45 million to finance a train project. September 18: The fund lend Swaziland USD 12 million to finance an irrigation project. September 21: KFAED signed loan agreement with Tanzania to provide USD 12 million to rebuild a hospital in Zanzibar. October 13: The fund lend Senegal KD 12 million to fund highway construction. October 14: The Fund lend Mali USD 9.5 million for a drinking water project in Bamako. October 23: KFAED signed a USD four-million grant agreement with the World Health Organization (WHO) to fight diseases in Africa. November 2: KFAED donated USD 5.4 million to the UN Children Fund (UNICEF) to fight cholera and famine. November 19: KFAED lend Egypt KD 12.5 million to develop drinking water network in city of Areesh. December 21: Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development signs KD nine million-hospital construction deal with China. |
