The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation to hold a meeting with the WB’s leaders during her participation at the WB’s Spring Meetings next week

The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation and Egypt’s Governor at the World Bank Group (WBG) stated that the WB’s Executive Council has unanimously approved supporting the implementation of the comprehensive national strategy for pre-university education development with USD 500 million, which is the largest support for the educational process in Egypt.

The Minister indicated that the WB’s decision reflects an unprecedented level of cooperation with Egypt and the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) full support of the education development and reform process being the main pillar of Egypt’s inclusive social and economic development.

Moreover, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has given priority to such pillar within the framework of his keenness on obtaining optimum benefit of human resources in Egypt in a manner that would improve the level of competitiveness and productivity.

The Minister also mentioned that the WB’s support came on a time-critical basis, given that it directly supports the education development strategy recently discussed with the Egyptian government, which aims to achieve a quantum leap in the education process in line with the most internationally recognized educational systems.

The WB’s development support, revealed Dr. Nasr, would focus on several main pillars, topped by improving the educational system in the early-childhood phase, developing teachers’ skills and capacities, developing teaching skills, intensifying the uses of modern technology in the educational process, and developing advanced and effective systems for evaluation and monitoring so as to ensure the continuous development of Education in Egypt.

The Minister pointed out that the WB’s support came within the framework of constructive cooperation between the Egyptian government and the WB to support development projects in all sectors.

In addition, the Minister expressed her aspirations to meet with the WB’s leaders to discuss cooperation portfolio between Egypt and the WB and to sign the education development support agreement during her participation at the WB’s Spring Meetings in Washington next week.
