Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia affirmed that the forecasts announce that 2018 will be undoubtedly better than the previous year at the economic and social levels.
Speaking in a press conference devoted to the presentation of the government’s record, Ouyahia said that “2018 will be undoubtedly better than the previous year for several reasons, including the raising by the State of the budget volume as well as the momentum experienced by the economy and investment since the second half of 2017 and the first months of the current year.” Among these reasons, Prime minister also cited the important rainfalls that have been recorded so far, allowing a good agricultural year. Concerning the three aforementioned factors, Ouyahia said that 2017 recorded an equipment budget of DZD2,500 billion while the total amount of this budget, in the finance law of 2018, is DZD4,100 billion, “thus almost the double.” According to him, the clearing by the State of its debts towards national economic companies, by granting a budget of more than DZD700 billion, is also among the factors that will help improving the results of this year, in addition to execution of more than 1,500 projects worth DZD260 billion and which concern the sectors of education, health, higher education and water resources. Regarding investments, Prime minister said that the National Agency of Investment Development (ANDI) recorded in 2017 and in the first moths of the current year about 5,000 new investment projects. |
