 Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s visit to Egypt and the recent visit by his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Portugal represent a cornerstone in ties between the two countries, Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil said .
These visits pave the way for a new era in political and economic relations between Cairo and Lisbon, Qabil said in a speech delivered on his behalf by head of Trade Representation Authority Ahmed Antar during the first meeting for the Egyptian-Portuguese business council. Paying visits at presidential levels sends encouraging and reassurance signals to businessmen in the two states to work for boosting trade and economic ties, the minister added. The Egyptian-Portuguese business council represents a common and unique platform for the businessmen in the two countries to enhance cooperation in various fields, he added. |
