 Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil met today with Malinne Blomberg, the new Egypt country manager of the African Development Bank (ADB), where they discussed the bank’s current and future projects in Egypt.
Kabil said the ADB seeks to strengthen bilateral cooperation with both the government and the private sector. It is currently mulling investing in projects in the Suez Canal Corridor Area Project and studying the financing needs of a large number of investment projects operating in various fields. “The coming period will witness new projects by the ADB in the Egyptian market, especially in the fields of renewable and non-renewable energy, agro-processing industries, and manufacturing,” the minister added. He further noted that the bank might set up joint projects with Egyptian investors in Africa; notably in Central, West African and COMESA countries. The ministry, Kabil pointed out, is considering participation in the forum on African development organised by the ADB in Johannesburg on November 7-9, which will bring together a host of African and Asian financing institutions. |
