 Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr said the free zone of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAAFI) achieved exports worth dlrs 14.7bn during the period January-December 30, 2018, with an increase by dlrs 1.1 bn during the same period last year.
Exports of commodities reached dlrs 8.3 billion, while service exports hit dlrs 6.4 bn, she said in a statement released . Some 1102 projects are operating in the free zones including 898 in the general free zones and 204 in the private ones, she said. The ministry is establishing seven free zones in Menya, South Sinai, New Ismailia, Herafyeen in Giza, Gamasa in Dakahliya, Aswan and Kafr el Sheikh, she said. The new zones are expected to include more than 1,000 ventures that would provide 120,000 job opportunities, she said, adding that 12 new investment zones are being planned for Banha, Arab el Olekat, Tanta factory land in Qalyubia, Meet Ghamr, Dakahliya, El Saf in Giza, Damietta, Sharqiya, City Center in Almaza, Cairo, Ataka in Suez, Ismailia free zone extension, North Sinai and Aswan. The investment zones are expected to include around 8,000 projects and create around 100,000 job opportunities, she said. |
