Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar met with Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qassabi, who’s currently visiting Egypt as part of the delegation accompanying Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman.
The two sides agreed on developing the strategic partnership between Egypt and the Saudi Kingdom, and embarking on new joint ventures both in the local market and in third countries, especially African ones. Nassar emphasized that there are a lot of international changes at the present time which require more solidarity from their respective countries, “the two main drivers of economic integration in the Arab world.” The meeting also explored means of overcoming barriers to bilateral trade, which stands at $7 billion, as well as new initiatives that could push forward economic relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Qassabi, for his part, said that Egypt is a favorite investment destination for Saudi businessmen, pointing to the remarkable developments he had witnessed during his last visit in March, mainly in infrastructure and other national megaprojects. |
