Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ezz Eddin Abu Steit has discussed with Tanzanian officials means of boosting cooperation in the agricultural field, including a proposal to establish a joint model farm.
During his visit to the African country, Abu Steit reviewed with Tanzanian counterpart Japhet Hasunga ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation with regard to the production of high economic-yield crops in Tanzania, to meet local needs, the Agriculture Ministry said in a statement . Also, the two sides probed the establishment of special training programs for qualifying agricultural cadres in Tanzania, in addition to the possibility of cultivating Egyptian cotton in the African state, the statement added. In a related context, the agriculture minister discussed with Tanzanian Defense Minister Hussein Ali means of cementing bilateral cooperation in the areas of agro-processing and livestock production, as well as a motion to grow high productivity crops, the statement noted. For his part, the Tanzanian defense minister welcomed a motion to build a joint model farm between the two states, the statement said. Moreover, Abu Steit held talks with Tanzania's minister of animal wealth on available investment opportunities in the sector of livestock production in Dodoma, the statement read. The two parties talked about the timetable for inking a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Egyptian national company for African investment in Egypt and Tanzania's NARCO company to export meat to Egypt. In this regard, the Tanzanian animal wealth minister promised to finalize all the necessary procedures on the deal before the end of February. |
