The Ministry of Economy is organising the visit of an official commercial delegation to Ethiopia, led by Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Saleh, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade Affairs, with the participation of over 75 officials, people in business and representatives of the UAE’s private sector.
The visit will include official meetings with ministers and officials from the Ethiopian government, the launch of the second 'UAE-Ethiopa Business Forum', and the inauguration the country's pavilion at the Ethiopia International Trade Exhibition, EITE, 2019, which will be held in the capital, Addis Ababa, from 21st to 23rd March, 2019. Al Saleh said that the visit aims to develop the economic, commercial and investment cooperation between the UAE and Ethiopia while adding that their bilateral economic ties are strong and have witnessed considerable growth, and stressing that the UAE government has prioritised its overall commercial and investment cooperation with Ethiopia. Al Saleh added that the country's delegation will aim to create new opportunities for the UAE’s private sector to cooperate with its Ethiopian counterpart, explore new commercial opportunities in all sectors, present the UAE’s business environment, and facilitate the work of businessmen. The trade exchange value between the UAE and Ethiopia in 2017 amounted to around AED2.3 billion, or over US$618 million. Their level of trade is expected to grow significantly by the end of the year. |
