 Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr said that the vision of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on sustainable development has helped achieve major economic progress.
Addressing a meeting on launching the United Nations initiative for investment in sustainable development in New York, she added that Egypt is encouraging the participation of the private sector in sustainable development projects through adopting international principles in this regard and joining international initiatives for attracting foreign direct investment for development. The new UN initiative for sustainable development is an alliance of international investors covering international groupings of private and financial sectors, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation. She added that Egypt is working, through its chairmanship of the African Union, to support regional integration in Africa and urge the private sector to take part in sustainable development in cooperation with governments and international foundations. Egypt has achieved much progress along the road of economic and social development, she said, adding that the government is working to attract more local and foreign investments while enhancing the principles of governance and rational administration in all state sectors. This led to improving the status of Egypt on economic indices and international credit rating, she noted. President Sisi has outlined a national and strategic vision for comprehensive sustainable development through adopting an all-out economic and social reform program which started reaping fruit, she added. She explained that the Gross Domestic Product reached now 5.3 percent while the unemployment rate went down to 8.9 percent despite a slow growth of the international economy. |
