Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Mohab Mamish said the international waterway achieved an all-time high in revenues in 2018.
Receiving a diplomatic delegation grouping ambassadors from member states of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mamish said the Suez Canal revenues hit $5.7 billion in 2018, up $450 million (8.5 percent) compared with 2017. He added that the global trade transiting the Suez Canal over the past eight years grew 5.4 percent, outpacing the international trade rate by 3.4 percent. |
