Egypt's exports to Tanzania witnessed a remarkable growth in 2018, Egyptian Ambassador to Tanzania Mohamed Gaber Abul Wafa said.
The ambassador made his remark as an Egyptian delegation, including representatives of Egyptian companies registered at the Export Council for Engineering Industries, has been on a four day visit to Tanzania's Dar es Salaam since Monday. He noted that the volume of Egyptian exports to Tanzania spiraled from $ 24.02 million in 2017 to $ 42.23 million during the following year, hitting a 75%- increase within a single year. The trade balance in goods between the two countries was in favor of Egypt by an amount of $ 37.28 million, the ambassador added. Moreover, Abul Wafa shed light on the positive developments in bilateral relations at various levels, especially the significant increase in mutual trade from $ 25.41 million in 2017 to $ 47.19 million in 2018. He attributed this unprecedented growth to the booming ties between both African states, especially after President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Dar es Salaam in August 2017 and the following visits to the African nation by Egyptian top officials, including the prime minister and the house speaker. The delegation will conclude their visit on Thursday. |
