President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said boosting trade and investment cooperation with the United States would give a push to joint action at all levels.
Receiving Myron Brilliant, executive US vice president and head of International Affairs at the US Chamber of Commerce, in Cairo, Sisi added that Egypt is looking forward to promoting economic ties with the US in the coming period. He lauded the important role played by the private sector in strengthening the Egyptian-US ties by boosting investments, transferring knowledge and expertise and promoting trade exchange to serve the common interests of both countries. Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar attended the meeting. During the meeting, Sisi appreciated the role played by the American Chamber of Commerce to strengthen economic and trade relations between Egypt and the United States, expressing his keenness to periodically meet its members to brief them on economic and investment developments in Egypt, as well as efforts exerted to complete the country's national economic reform program, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement. In turn, Brilliant stressed the importance of strategic relations between the two countries, particularly at the economic and investment levels. He further stressed the need to work on attracting new US investments in Egypt. He hailed recent positive economic developments in Egypt, which were praised by the international specialized institutions, as an indicator reflecting the stability of the economic and investment climate in Egypt. The meeting also touched upon means of promoting cooperation between the two countries in Africa, especially in the fields of digital economy, health and energy, in light of Cairo's presidency of the African Union, the spokesman said. The meeting also tackled the latest regional developments, he added. |
