Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, said Jordan is capable of overcoming the economic difficulties and challenges it is facing at this stage, as it had over previous years.

During a meeting with the chairman and members of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Razzaz added:"We have no doubt to overcome various challenges. What we need is not to be overly optimistic, but hard work and partnership based on true evaluation."

The premier noted the government has a duty to review the legislation, laws, standards, and procedures to serve the commercial sector, which is an important sinew of the national economy, while it is not permissible to draw a "pessimistic and negative" future without objective grounds.

Razzaz affirmed the government does not promise anything that is not applicable, and does not practice a "painkiller" policy in addressing the economic situation and challenges facing its various sectors, but works within the approach of structural reform of the Jordanian economy.

Regarding the tax network, Razzaz , during the meeting, which witnessed an explicit assessment of the various obstacles facing the commercial sector, said the network's outcomes will not be immediate, but require waiting until the end of the year for indicators to surface to be assessed.

In this context, he noted the problem in this issue lies in the reliance on indirect taxes, adding the government's policy is to address this impediment by relying more on direct taxes, within a fair and progressive tax system.

On the meeting's importance, he said :"We want to know the real challenges to work together to address them and overcome them according to a real methodology and follow-up and according to specific dates."

In response to a question on the events in the city of Ramtha, Razzaz noted: " We live in a state of law, and the protection of borders from smuggling is a national priority."

He said: "We are proud of the people of Ramtha who have endured a lot in recent years because of the Syrian crisis and the border closure."
