Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Sunday chaired a meeting of the Economic Ministerial Committee to review a structural reform program aiming to push the national economy forwards in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
Planning Minister Hala el Saeed, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Trade Minister Amr Nassar and Public Business Sector Minister Hesham Tawfik. The meeting reviewed the government's success in adopting the first phase of the economic reform program. However, the participants affirmed that a comprehensive structural reform program is needed to ensure the sustainability of its positive outcomes. Saeed said the program aims to raise the efficiency of the state's administrative apparatus and reduce bureaucratic measures. The fresh program will be initially implemented in seven promising sectors, including the industry, constructions, internal trade, tourism, agriculture, extractive industries and communications, she added. For his part, Deputy Finance Minister for Financial Policies Ahmed Kojak said the financial and monetary reforms target achieving preliminary surplus worth 2 percent of the GDP in the coming years in conjunction with declining the debt-to-GDP ratio. Kojak added that the structural reforms include Tawfik's suggestions to improve the governance system of the public sector companies, as well as working on stimulating the Egyptian bourse. |
