An Arab-African investment conference kicked off at the Arab League premises with representatives and figures from 34 Arab, African, European and Asian countries attending.
The four-day gathering, organized by the Arab Women Investors Union under the auspices of the Arab League, is meant to assert women's role in pushing forward economic and social development efforts in the Arab world and Africa. It also eyes new exportation markets, joint Arab-African investments with a view to achieving the Arab 2030 and African 2063 sustainable development goals. Addressing the inaugural session, Doaa Khalifa, head of the education department of the Arab League, called for a bigger role by civil society organizations to become a partner in development processes. She said that the pan-Arab body attaches great importance to Arab investment, citing the 2019 Arab economic summit, which was held in Beirut. |
