Egypt witnesses an unprecedented digital transformation, as nearly 174 digital government services will be offered in Port Said by the end of 2019, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) said.
During its participation in the fifth edition of Techne summit in Alexandria, the ministry stressed the importance of unifying efforts among the public and private sectors, the civil society and innovators to create a suitable atmosphere for innovation. In 2018, up to 1,500 ICT companies have been established. Also, the volume of investment in the small and medium enterprises reached $171 million with an increase of 23 percent compared to the previous year, it added. The micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) contribute to about one third of Egypt's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 38 percent of the total jobs in the Egyptian market. The ministry agreed with the French government on launching an entrepreneurship competition in the ICT domain. The competition's registration date is mid-October. By the end of this year, 10,000 youths will be trained in the ICT field including cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence and internet of things. |
