Investment Minister Sahar Nasr joined the British Ambassador in Egypt Geoffrey Adams and fifteen leading British companies for the first British Investors, Forum, held at the British Embassy in Cairo.
Key investors such as AstraZeneca, BP Egypt, GSK, HSBC, Vodafone Egypt, Shell and Unilever participated in the forum, to discuss their future investment plans and identify ways to improve the business environment in Egypt. Representatives from Ministry of Investment and the UK Department for International Trade also attended the forum, discussed Egypt’s participation in the upcoming Africa Investment Summit in London. The Summit will bring together businesses, governments and international institutions to promote the breadth and quality of investment opportunities across Africa, and support job creation on the continent. Nasr said: "Egypt is Keen to increase its cooperation with the UK, in light of the promising investment opportunities in the market. I call on British companies to increase their investments in Egypt, which amounts to 47.8 billion dollars with 1817 British companies operating in Egypt. I also invite British companies to participate in the Africa Forum 2019, which will be held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, during the period from 22 to 23 November 2019". The Forum, which will take place in the new administrative capital, will be attended by a number of Heads of state and Ministers from Africa, and a number of businessmen and investors from all around the world”. Adams said: "As Egypt’s leading investor, the UK was keen to create a channel of communication with leading British companies through the British Investors’ Forum. This open dialogue will ensure we continue working together to invest in Egypt’s human capital and achieve our shared prosperity goals". |
