Trade Minister Amr Nassar inaugurated the 4th edition of Destination Africa 2019 textile and garment exhibition.
As many as 150 export companies alongside 230 international buyers from the US and the European Union are taking part in this year's edition. Minister Nassar asserted keenness of his ministry on promoting the textile and apparel industries, pointing out to the importance of improving the exports of such a vital sector. The exports of the spinning and weaving sector increased by 10 percent during the first three quarters of 2019 to reach dollars 2.5 billion against dollars 2.3 billion during the same period of the previous year, the minister said. He added that the sector of the ready-to-wear garments has achieved a growth of seven percent between January-September 2019 to reach dollars 1.268 billion, compared with dollars 1.180 billion in the same period in 2018. Destination Africa is an annual international pan-African B2B sourcing event for the textile industries in Egypt. |
