Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashaat confirmed that the government is working to enhance cooperation with the World Bank in fields that are important to the Egyptian citizen such as comprehensive health care, housing, education and environment.
The remark was made at a meeting with a bank delegation during her current visit to Washington, said a statement issued by the International Cooperation Ministry. She also met with bank deputy chairman Ferid Belhaj and discussed enhancing the cooperation strategy between the bank and Egypt in the coming period in fields of priority to the Egyptian government. Belhaj noted that the bank is keen on contributing to development efforts in Egypt in light of the current economic reform measures that are adopted by the Egyptian government. Later, Mashaat met with Ayat Soliman, the Regional Director for the World Bank Group's Sustainable Development Department for the Middle East and North Africa (MNA) region and discussed cooperation programs between Egypt and the bank. Also, they discussed the progress achieved in the local development program in Upper Egypt that was financed by the bank with 500 million dollars. |
