The CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Amr Mahfouz said that Egypt achieved positive results in the field of entrepreneurship and emerging companies thanks to cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Addressing the opening session of the Tchne Summit held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Mahfouz lauded Egypt's competitive capabilities in the field of technological innovation and entrepreneurship, which helped the emerging companies to attract the largest number of investment deals in the Middle East and North Africa region during the first half of this year. He added that the agency is currently working on preparing an integrated study to enhance Egypt's position in the field of entrepreneurship and emerging companies at the global level. Mahfouz also shed light on efforts exerted by the agency to encourage investment in Egyptian startups and attract more funds on that score. The Covid-19 crisis played a catalytic role in the growth of the information technology sector and technological innovation, in addition to the emergence of many entrepreneurial businesses, he added. Mahfouz pointed out that the agency provided consultation services for 175 startups and incubated 28 others in 2020 despite the Covid-19 crisis. The agency also offered training courses to nearly 6,000 students and 1,300 government leaders this year, Mahfouz noted. |
