Planning Minister Hala el Saeid said Sunday that Egypt ranks seventh of 20 Arab countries and fourth of 47 states in Africa in terms of sustainable development.
Egypt came seventh in the Middle East and North Africa region as well. A 2022 sustainable development report also put Egypt in the 30th position among 163 countries on the global outreach impact indicator, Saied added. Egypt’s position on the education, research, health and demographic indicators also improved in comparison with other countries in the Middle East and North Africa region, the minister said as she reviewed the annual report, which is released by the University of Cambridge in cooperation with Germany’s Bertelsmann Stiftung. Saeid made it clear that Egypt got 68.7 points in 2022, thus maintaining its performance as indicated in the report. The minister, however, pointed to a decline in the regional average from 67.1 in 2021 to 66.7 in 2022. At the Arab level, Egypt came seventh of 20 countries mentioned in the report, Saied said. As for the global outreach impact, the minister said this indicator measures the positive and negative cross-border effects from other countries. Egypt came 30th of 163 countries on that indicator, the minister noted. |
