Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has reiterated the key role played by the Supreme Council of Ports in light of the recent decision to reconstitute it.
The decision includes entrusting the council with setting and reviewing a general strategy for all ports nationwide. This is meant to achieve integration and coordination among the country’s ports in an effort to attract more container vessels and shipping lines from abroad, review plans for securing maritime navigation, and propose measures to improve the investment climate, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Madbouli added. The Prime Minister made the remarks as he chaired on Tuesday a meeting of the Supreme Council of Ports. The meeting was attended by Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Walid Gamal el Din, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Hossam Heiba, and Head of Egypt's Customs Authority El-Shahat Ghatouri, among other senior officials. SCZone Chairman Osama Rabie participated in the meeting via video conference. During the meeting, the transport minister briefed the prime minister on the work of the Supreme Council of Ports over the past period. |
