International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat discussed in a meeting with two officials of the World Bank Group (WBG), future cooperation programs to stimulate the transition to a green economy and the efforts to enhance the private sector's participation in development.
Mashat's remarks came during her meeting with Nadir Mohammed, the World Bank's Regional Director for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions (EFI) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, along with Marina Wes, the World Bank Country Director for Egypt, Yemen, and Djibouti. The international cooperation minister reviewed the measures taken by the State to strengthen resilience and attain green transformation and gender equality. The two sides reviewed a joint report on strengthening the private sector's engagement in development and monitoring macroeconomic policies,in addition to the measures taken by the country to advance the efforts aimed at mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change. They also explored the current preparations for launching the 2023-2027 Country Partnership Framework (CPF), which will represent a new chapter of constructive cooperation between the government and the World Bank Group. Egypt and the World Bank Group (WBG) share a development cooperation portfolio that covers 14 ongoing projects worth almost $7 billion in priority sectors. The portfolio also includes another 23 projects in the field of technical support, capacity building and consultancy. |
