Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna received a delegation from the World Bank.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Local Development welcomed the delegation of the World Bank, which is a strategic partner of the Egyptian state to support the government's program and the reforms undertaken by the state with the aim of achieving sustainable and comprehensive development at the national level. Hisham Amna said that the World Bank is also a partner of the Ministry of Local Development in particular by supporting the implementation of structural and institutional reforms to develop local administration and support decentralization with the aim of advancing development in the Egyptian governorates. He said that the local development program in Upper Egypt enjoys constant interest and follow-up from His Excellency the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the members of the Steering Committee. He noted that the program is a pioneering model in the localization of sustainable development goals, and aims to build a model for local decentralization that can be generalized for the comprehensive development lead by governorates and local administration units. The Minister of Local Development indicated that cooperation is underway with the World Bank in the restructuring work of the program to officially extend it to end in October 2024, and it is planned that the restructuring of the program will include a number of indicators that include a focus on ensuring the sustainability of the activities and outputs implemented by the program. |
