Planning and Economic Development Minister, Hala el Saeed, has discussed with the CEO of the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), Oussama Kaissi, means to cement cooperation between Egypt and the corporation.
They had a meeting on the sidelines of annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, which kicked off on May 10-13. The minister praised the leading roles played by the ICIEC and its fruitful and ongoing cooperation with Egypt. Insurance operations made by the ICIEC to serve Egypt worth some $9.01 billion, covering domains of imports, exports, credit and foreign investment insurance, among others, el Saeed said. This makes Egypt one of the top ten countries benefiting from the ICIEC's services, she added. Egypt is keen to expand and deepen ICIEC’s contribution to strategic projects and serve the interests of both parties, the minister added. The ICIEC, which is a member of the IsDB group, ICIEC was established on August 1st, 1994, as an international institution with full juridical personality. The idea for the establishment of an entity to provide investment and export credit insurance for Islamic States originated from the Agreement for the Promotion, Protection and Guarantee of Investment among Member States of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC Investment Agreement). |
