Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the importance of the Supreme Council for Automotive Industry, noting that this industry is accorded top priority by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
This came during the premier’s chairing the meeting of the Supreme Council for Automobile Industry to discuss the latest developments regarding this sector in Egypt and efforts exerted by all ministries and bodies concerned to work on implementing the national strategy for the vehicles industry. A number of cabinet ministers attended the meeting along with CEO of The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Walid Gamal Eldien, President of the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers (AAAM) Mike Whitfield, who is also chairman of Nissan South Africa, Vice-President of AAAM Ahmed Fikry Abdel Wahab, Adviser to Planning Minister Mona El Garf as well as other Egyptian officials. Also attending were the Chairperson and Managing Director for Volkswagen Group South Africa Martina Biene, Managing Director of General Motors South Africa Sharon Nishi, CEO of Nissan Africa Sherif El Desouki, CEO of Manufacturing Sector at Ghabour Company Ramez Adeeb as well as a galaxy of international officials. The premier welcomed the members of AAAM and briefed them on Egypt’s national program to enhance the automobile industry in Egypt through partnership between various concerned bodies, the private sectors and international companies specialised in this field. The premier also reviewed Egypt’s measures to propel and enhance such important industry, given the example of upgrading the Egyptian harbors along with expansion in the industrial investments in Egypt. |
