First Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) Hany Mahmoud lauded the level of progress in the sector of communications and IT in Egypt, asserting that the sector witnessed an unprecedented leap in the era of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
In statements to MENA on the sidelines of “Invest in Digital Economy” Forum that was concluded recently in Amman, Mahmoud said that President Sisi pays great attention to the sector of communications and information technology, pointing out that the president was keen on implementing the main infrastructure of the sector during the past 10 years and the efforts are still going on. The directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi contribute to implementing and building smart cities in addition to improving the sector of communications and digitization in different domains, he said. This interest in the sector is reflected on the performance of the government and the bodies specialized in this sector, he said. The digital economy became a dire necessity not only in Egypt but in the whole world, he said. There is an Egyptian and Arab interest in the sector of digital economy as it is a main part of achieving economic development and overcoming free trade challenges, he said, pointing out that the Egyptian leadership is working strenuously to achieve economic growth via digitization of different trade services. He asserted the importance of paying more Arab attention to the investments in the sector of digital economy, adding that the forum represents a big opportunity to exchange expertise in the field of digital transformation to serve digital economy. At the directives of President Sisi, the FEDCOC is working on contributing to increasing exports and attracting more investments via consultations with Arab and foreign investors, he said. |
