Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad said the Green Climate Fund (GCF) approved during the 40th Board Meeting proposals for financing several programs in a number of countries, including greening financial systems and establishing investment fund for smart resilient agriculture in addition to a utility for expanding water resilient infrastructure.
These projects will be set up in a number of countries, including Egypt, at an estimated cost of dlrs 2.687 billion, she said in a statement. This fell within the framework of the Environment Ministry's efforts to encourage partnerships with development partners and the private sector, including projects for mitigation and adaptation with climate change, she said. Fouad noted that investment fund for smart resilient agriculture contributes to attaining the second goals of the national strategy for climate change 2050 on promoting resilience and adaptation. |
