President Abdel Fattah El Sisi places a high priority on the healthcare sector, aiming to fulfill Egyptians’ dream of universal healthcare coverage, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said.
Healthcare is always a top priority for human development and sustainable health advancement, with directives from the President to expedite the implementation of a comprehensive health insurance system to cover all citizens and their families, Madbouli added during his tour of the Suez Medical Complex. Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the state’s multi-faceted approach to enhance the critical healthcare sector, including upgrading infrastructure to match advancements in service delivery through the new comprehensive health insurance system, which will revolutionize healthcare in Egypt in the coming phase. He mentioned the progress of the comprehensive health insurance system in Suez, noting that about 73% of the governorate's residents are registered under the system. Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the system has significantly improved healthcare services and boosted the capacity of hospitals and health units in the area. President of the General Authority for Healthcare Ahmed El Sobky described the Suez Medical Complex as the largest medical facility that marks a qualitative leap in healthcare services for Suez and the Canal region. He noted that it would be the first medical complex to launch a digital platform for Building Management Systems (BMS) and enforce infection control measures using smart technologies like IoT and AI. For the first time, an AI-based hospital management system will be implemented in cooperation with SIEMENS. The premier toured the ICU, patient rooms, and neonatal units of the 35,000-square-meter complex that is designed in line with digital transformation requirements under Egypt Vision 2030. The building complies with the AIA architectural code, catering to the needs of people with disabilities, and follows medical quality standards, occupational safety, and health protocols, with fire protection measures in place. |
