Minister of Investment, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, and the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Alaa Fahmi met with member of the Executive Council of the Abu Dhabi Government: His Royal Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who chairs Amiri Aviation, and His Royal Highness, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Group and Union National Bank, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.
This came at the end of the two ministers' visit to the United Arab Emirates. The two meetings reviewed a number of investment projects including those associated with Upper Egypt development and infrastructure. They also discussed the investment opportunities in transportation, agroprocessing, renewable energy and youth and low-income housing projects. Means of cooperation in investments associated with technology, medical services, education and scientific research were also discussed. UAE officials stressed their country's interest in promoting means of cooperation in all fields such as projects that help strengthen Egypt-UAE economic relations and development in order to benefit the two brotherly nations. At the level of investment and business institutions, Ministers’ Mohieldin and Fahmi met with Mr. Mahmood Al-Mahmood, Chief Executive of Al-Qudra Holding Co., and Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Masdar - a landmark renewable energy initiative established by the UAE Government. The two meetings discussed the position of each group's investment projects in Egypt and the technical and investment cooperation programs with the two groups. They also reviewed investment opportunities in infrastructure, industry, transportation, food processing, renewable energy, building and construction, as well as potential cooperation for the development of the North West Suez Gulf Special Economic Zone (SEZONE). The development of scholarships and training programs (MA, PhD) offered by Masdar in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was also reviewed. The program allowed a group of Egyptian fresh graduate engineers to study the latest programs and technology related to the engineering sectors. "This program is very important because it develops and improves the capabilities of employees in Egyptian companies and contributes to enhancing the value added of investment cooperation in this area," Minister Mohieldin said. |
