The European commission agreed to give Egypt 100 million Euros (U.S. $143.9 million), as direct contribution to improve living conditions of the poor and creating more job opportunities in Egypt.
Almost a million people will benefit from this program, said the European commissioner for enlargement neighborhood policy, Stefan Fule. He also said this program will work to provide the poor an improvement in their life. He added 60 percent of residents in Cairo currently live in slums without essential social services such as clean drinking water or waste disposal systems. Regarding the field of commerce, the program will work to improve export quality by providing training and legal consultations. These arrangements will eventually help create more job opportunities and reduce price of food, said Fule. He also said the program will help promote renewable energy resources and reduce global warming gases, by using solar energy and establishing programs to save energy. |
