Agreements between Egypt, Turkey and Indonesia

Dr. Mahmoud Eisa, Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, who heads the Egyptian delegation in the meetings of the Group of Eight Islamic Developing Turkey - that the meetings of Ministers of the countries of the group resulted in the Istanbul Declaration of the industrial cooperation between the countries of the group, including the mechanisms that would activate cooperation in the areas of automotive and energy projects and food industries, textiles, petrochemicals, fertilizers, iron, small and medium industries, specifications and standards, electronics, information technology and intellectual property rights and technology transfer.

The minister said he was signing a cooperation protocol during the visit between the Ministries of Industry in Egypt and Turkey, including cooperation in the areas of advanced training and information exchange, research and technical consultancy and the organization of workshops to support the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises and the development of skills in different industrial sectors and raise the capacity in the field of design and innovation has been formed a joint committee from both sides to follow up the implementation of this Protocol.

The minister held a meeting with a number of businessmen representing some 45 Turkish companies, members of the Foreign Economic Relations Board Turkey with the participation of Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Turkish was emphasized on the importance of a free trade agreement, which led to increased trade volume from $ 800 million in 2005 reached about 3.2 billion dollars in 2010.

The minister also met a number of major Turkish companies interested in investing in Egypt, where officials expressed their intention of these companies invest in Egypt, stressing that the current situation in Egypt is a temporary situation that does not impair long-term investments. Issa-Minister of Industry- and Nihat Arjun- Minister of Science, Industry and Technology in Turkey- discussed ways to boost economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, especially in small and medium enterprises.

The minister said he had held bilateral meetings with several ministers of industry of the group, such as his meeting with the Minister of Industry in Bangladesh, who confirmed his country's keenness to benefit from Egyptian expertise and increase cooperation with Egypt in the next stage, where he expressed his country's desire to import large quantities of fertilizers, chemicals, and their readiness to dispatch delegation of specialists to visit Egypt next month to discuss ways to implement it. Also discussed with Mr. Issa Mohammad Hidayat, Minister of Industry in Indonesia, the most important economic indicators that have been successfully achieved during the previous phase.

He called on the Indonesian side of Essa to increase its investments in Egypt and to increase cooperation in the field of industrial activities, particularly the automotive industry. The minister said that he was agreed with the Indonesian side to sign a cooperation protocol between the ministries of industry in both countries include cooperation in the field of cars, textiles, training and technical cooperation, especially that Indonesia adopts five-year program to support the automotive industry, textiles, gas, petrochemicals and foodstuffs.

Dr. Eisa also held a meeting with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Mines of Iran during which he assured the importance of cooperation between the business associations in both countries and to provide exchange information and trade missions and participating in exhibitions for business in both countries. The Iranian side assure on his desire to cooperate with Egypt in the auto industry, especially as Iran occupies rank eleventh globally in the production of cars and take advantage of the agreements concluded by Egypt with countries around the world and allow them access to foreign markets and the production of car economical for the local market.
