Egypt and Iraq inked on 20/12/2011 two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to establish two companies operating in the field of power generation and distribution. The agreements also included enhancing cooperation in different power sectors. The agreements cover transfer of Egyptian experience in building human resources.
Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri, who attended the signing ceremony, asserted his support to the Egyptian companies carrying out reconstruction projects in Iraq. Electricity and Energy Minister Hassan Younis and his Iraqi counterpart Karim Aftan discussed boosting bilateral cooperation in power generation field, setting up power stations, activating Egyptian companies' role in power projects in Iraq to meet the growing power needs.
