Prime Minister Kamal Al-Ganzouri received on 30March 2012 Swedish Ambassador in Cairo Malin Karre for talks on means to boost Egypt-Swedish relations in all spheres, with firm eye on the economic and investment domains. Sweden is one of the top countries that continued the implementation of its investment programs in Egypt after the January 25 Revolution, a senior diplomat who attended the meeting said. The talks tackled ways of increasing Egyptian exports to Swedish markets, especially yarn.
Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ambassador Amr Helmy was present in the meeting. The talks have also tackled the Egyptian-Scandinavian business council's role in boosting Egyptian Swedish economic relations. Increasing the flow of Swedish tourists to Egypt also figured high on the agenda of the meeting. Helmy noted that the Swedish side affirmed during the meeting the confidence of Swedish economic circuits in Egypt, taking the increase of Swedish investments as a proof of this. The Swedish side has controlled a telecommunications company through investments of USD 410 million and increased investments in a food production company by nearly USD 30 million. In statements after the talks, Helmy said discussions tackled Egypt-Sweden ties in the cultural and tourism fields as well as means to increase the flow of Swedish tourists to Egypt. For her part, the Swedish diplomat said her talks with Ganzouri were very good and took up vistas of bilateral cooperation. |
