Bilateral Relations between UAE and Tatarstan

H.E. Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan, met H.E. Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on the sidelines of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) at Dubai World Trade Centre and lauded the growth of Dubai which he said has become a strategic business hub in the region.The President of Tatarstan called upon Russian businesses to explore the various investment opportunities offered by the emirate and to make their presence felt in Dubai which he said is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. He also praised the efforts of the chamber in strengthening the business environment.

H.E. Minnikhanov highlighted the investment opportunities available in his country as well as the competitive advantages it has to offer for foreign investors. He also discussed the role of the recently-established Tatarstan Investment Development Agency in supporting emerging companies and exploring global markets and looking for overseas investment opportunities. H.E. Al Ghurair thanked the Tatarstan President for his visit and complimenting Dubai for its economic progress. He said that trade and business bring countries together and expressed his willingness to cooperate with Tatarstan to cement commercial ties with the country.

The Dubai Chamber Chairman also elaborated on the role of the various Dubai entities in supporting and facilitating foreign investors to do business here and to benefit from the world-class infrastructural, logistics and financial services offered by the emirate which is a favourite investment destination in the region, he said. Meanwhile, H.E. Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber, discussed bilateral trade opportunities with H.E. Gerald Tremblay, Mayor of Montreal, who is attending the AIM in Dubai. Also present during the meeting was H.E. Yahiya Saeed Lootah, Board Member of Dubai Chamber.

The meeting, which came as a follow up to the Dubai Chamber delegation visit to Canada in March, discussed the progress of their areas of cooperation while elaborating on enhancing bilateral relation between the two cities. On his part, H.E. Gerald Tremblay, the Mayor of Montreal, expressed his gratitude to the Director General of Dubai Chamber for taking the two cities’ relationship to the next level as he said that such meetings lead to stronger bilateral relationship while providing the opportunity to work together into areas of mutual cooperation for both the sides.
