The government allocated on 24/3/2013 LE11 billion to buy wheat from local farmers this year as reported at a cabinet meeting on 24/3/2013. The meeting, presided by Prime Minister Hisham Qandil, discussed ways to improve the ways of wheat storage. The ministers of agriculture and supply who attended the meeting reviewed ways to increase wheat production. The Wheat cultivated lands this year in Egypt are estimated at 3.4 million feddans with expected harvests of 9 to 10 million tons.
