President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi said that the big challenge Yemen faces is in the economic sector.
During his meeting with Head of the European Union Delegation to Yemen Bettina Muscheidt, Hadi called for more assistance to Yemen to achieve safety, development and prosperity. He said that Yemen has made considerable progress in the way of implementing the Gulf initiative and its mechanism, as well as the success of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC). The President also pointed to several issues relevant to the economic decline and unemployment rates increase in addition to the country's needs to achieve the transition process successfully in a way that ensures Yemen's security, stability and unity as an important factor for the stability of the region and the world. For her part, the EU diplomat congratulated President Hadi on the successes accomplished during the past few days, praising the decision issued yesterday to form a constitution drafting committee, which she considered as a big step for Yemen to reach the desired future. Muscheidt pointed to the European assistances to Yemen, saying that the EU strongly supports Yemen by allocating €50 million to the Interior Ministry's reform and €45 million in many other areas to help Yemen according to a program that will continue annually. She underlined that the EU observes closely the development in Yemen and the progress of the peaceful change towards a new Yemen. President Hadi and Muscheidt discussed, during the meeting, the cooperation relations between Yemen and the EU, especially at the current critical stage. |
