Head of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) Mahmoud Al-Garf said procedures for the establishment of an industrial zone have started in Shalateen.
The place will occupy an area of 2 million square meters and will serve investments in the livestock slaughter and meat processing industry at the border entry point of cows exported by Egypt from Sudan. In a press conference on 26/3/2014, the official said that LE 400 million was allocated to establish the needed facilities in the area. The industrial zone project is expected to attract investments reaching up to LE 4 billion. Garf said that plans for another industrial zone will be brought for discussion by the Cabinet shortly, noting that this time the zone will be dedicated to producing marble in El Sheikh Fadel area of Ras Gharib where about 80% of rough marble is produced in Egypt. |
