As part of the celebrations of UAE National Day, an attempt to gain the Guinness World Record for the largest sheet of handmade paper utilising fibers of the date palm tree will take place at the Abu Dhabi Theatre grounds on Thursday, 4th December, by the UAE Yafei Tribe.
The current record of 13.9 m x 6.9 m for handmade washi paper was established in 2009 in Toyama, Japan. Apart from it’s greater size, the inclusion of date palm tree fibre as a primary ingredient is significant of this attempt. In addition to documenting the record attempt, observers will witness the cherished "Spirit of the Union" motif appearing on the palm paper as an artist renders the design live. |
