Excellency Mohammed Thani Murshid Al-Rumaithi, Chairman of the Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, received His Excellency Umej Bhatia, Singapore’s Ambassador to the UAE, at the Chambers Tower and discussed with him the potentials of developing trade and economic cooperation relations and the excreted efforts to developing trade exchange and networking between businessmen in Abu Dhabi and Singapore.
His Excellency Mohammed Helal Al-Muhairi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, attended the meeting. During the meeting, H.E. Al-Rumaithi praised the strong and deep relations between Abu Dhabi and Singapore, saying that Singapore is a very important trade partner to the UAE and Abu Dhabi. Trade figures between the two sides rose considerably over the past few years to reach AED16.4 billion by the end of 2013, which reflects an increasing activity by Emirati and Singapore companies in the markets of the two countries. The Chairman pointed out that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is witnessing an unprecedented economic and constructional boost that covers all economic, construction and services sectors. He emphasized that the capabilities of Abu Dhabi and the planned projects open the door wide open before Singaporean companies to enhance their cooperation with Emirati companies through establishing joint projects and partnerships. H.E Al-Rumaithi expressed his pleasure in opening a representative office for the Abu Dhabi Chamber in Singapore next April in order to facilitate commercial services for businessmen in both countries. “The new office will play a great role in strengthening our relations with Singapore. The Chamber will provide all means to ensure the success of this representative office so that it would contribute to the economic and investment cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Singapore. For his part, His Excellency Umej Bhatia, Singapore’s Ambassador to the UAE, pointed to the increasing interest of Singaporean companies in UAE markets and in cooperating with businessmen and companies in the UAE. He said that Emirati and Gulf investments grew considerably in Singaporean markets over the past few years, and that aviation companies in Singapore and the UAE play a pivotal role in supporting economic and investment relations and in increasing trade relations between the two sides. |
