Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said he has received assurances on the strong participation of the United Arab Emirates in the Egyptian economic conference, to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh next month.
Mahlab noted that he exchanged views on economic issues and the situation in the region during his meetings during his visit to the UAE with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahayyan and other senior officials and investors. Mahlab told the media delegation accompanying him that he met with Vice President of UAE Sheikh Mohammed ben Rashed al Maktoum and several investors on economic cooperation and the regional situation. Talks also covered UAE's strong participation in the economic summit that will take place in Sharm el-Sheikh in March. About the clashes that took place outside the Air Defense stadium and left 19 football fans dead, he said investigations are still going on, making clear that initial reports showed that deaths resulted from stampede and not from bullets. About the development in neighboring Arab countries, he said Egypt's national security is a red line and "we will not stand motionless against whoever tries to harm the country". "We are preparing for the Sharm conference and police and army are working hard to secure the event". Mahlab added that police, army and presidential guards will take up the responsibility of securing the conference, expected to lure a large number of Arab and foreign investors and businessmen. |
