Minister of Industry and Trade Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour held a series of meetings with foreign officials participating in Egypt Economic Development Conference.
Abdel Nour met with Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng to discuss promoting cooperation in various fields. The meeting tackled a number of projects, which would be financed by China, whether by direct investment for through providing soft loans to Egypt. The meeting also covered coordination between both sides to facilitate the export of Egyptian agricultural products to China. For his part, the Chinese Minister voiced his country's keenness on developing relations with Egypt in various fields. Abdel Nour also met with the deputy chairman of the Export-Import Bank of China to discuss funding mechanisms offered by the Bank for making use of them in financing a number of investment projects in Egypt, mainly in the fields of energy, infrastructure and industry. In the meantime, Abdel Nour held talks with Li Yong, the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), to discuss promoting cooperation in the field of vocational education along with new and renewable energy projects. The Minister also held a meeting with COMESA Secretary General Sindiso Ngwenya to discuss ways to activate commercial and economic cooperation among COMESA member-states. |
